Mechanical Engineer - Product Industrialisation Johannesburg (South Africa) Position Overview: A global high-tech pioneer in the sector of defense and security electronics market leader in civilian and military sensor solutions has created a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer - Product Industrialisation. The incumbent is allocated to various product industrialisation teams to assist team members and Project Managers to identify, scope and plan industrialisation and concurrent engineering activities. Guide and execute activities with the primary focus on concurrent engineering into Design influence for Manufacturability, Assembly and Support (DFMAS) and the establishment of Production and Support Baselines and Facilities. Lead assembly line commissioning, hand-over and acceptance. Assist with design of specialised tools and test equipment and supplier development where required. Experience, Qualifications and Skills Required: Minimum Requirements:- BEng Mechanical qualification
- DFMA short course will be an advantage
- Minimum of 8 – 10 years’ experience in product design and development (Electro-optical-mechanical products)
- Skilled in manufacturing technologies and processes and technical supplier development
- Understand and define unique product assembly and support requirements based on DFMAS principles
- Experienced in industrialization of own designs
- Solid experience in DFMA applied tools, techniques and principles, design and cost optimization, manufacturing technologies and supplier development
- Experience in system life cycle design and requirement-setting
- Experience in assembly line technical support for own designs
- Lead design engineers to perform FMECA for assembly and test
- Mechanical design for new product development based on system engineering and system acquisition principles
