Global Technology-Driven Recruitment Trends

Technology has changed the way recruiters worldwide search for and hire talent in this dynamic industry. Expect to recruit or to be found in different ways as the trends change the face of recruitment.

HR Analytics

Thanks to big data and business intelligence technology, HR analytics, also known as people or talent analytics, is making inroads in recruitment.

HR analytics refers to the collection and analysis of growing data generated online, which may include candidate profiles, statistics, social media data, and so on. These large sets of data need to be filtered and interpreted for the benefit of HR department and recruiters.

HR analytics will be instrumental in the future to conduct more efficient, productive and accurate talent hiring and retention.

Talent Pools

Online recruitment where companies or recruitment specialists provide applicants with the option to submit their resumes has undeniably generated the most productive way of building a candidate database or talent pool.

Talent pools for future recruitment needs are increasing in popularity as companies open the door to candidates who have expressed their interest in registering or working with the business. It does not matter if the business has vacancies, or if the candidate is actively searching for a new position (also see ‘passive recruitment’ below).

Building a talent tool gives organisations and recruiters quicker access to suitable candidates in the future, and reduces long recruitment cycles which are usually the norm for most industries.

Passive Recruitment

Passive candidates are those who are already employed and not actively engaged in job-hunting, but open to discussions once a more fulfilling role comes along.

This focus on passive recruitment is an emerging trend in the online and social media space, where brands engage with potential candidates through educational content, blogs, and social media interactions.

This way, organisations can distribute valuable work-related content, such as brand values and workplace environment, to passive individuals who could become interested in future work at the company and subsequently apply for a position.
